At GoblinChess, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. Therefore we don't collect nor store ANY of your personal information, where we define "personal information" as "anything that can be used to identify you". This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, use, and make public, information when you play the game.

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account with GoblinChess, we don't collect any personal information. We only store the following anonymous information:

• Username: arbitrary, so we don't know who you are. Only if you choose to use your full name (including address) is there a chance of you leaking your identity.
• A public key identifying you. This is randomly generated on your local machine, so it cannot be connected to anything except your username.

On your gaming client there is a private key, signing everything you send, replacing the traditional password. This is not known to us.

Gameplay Data

To provide you with the best chess experience, we collect:

• Game history and statistics
• ELO ratings

Technical Information

We automatically collect certain technical information, including:

• No logging of IP address and location data
• Nothing about device information (type, operating system, browser)
• No cookies and similar tracking technologies

Security Measures

The information we store is already open to anyone, so we are not trying to protect it. Our aim is only to prevent cheating.

How We Use Your Information

Service Provision

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain our chess platform
• Enable multiplayer gameplay and matchmaking

We use aggregated anonymized data to:

• Analyze platform usage and performance
• Improve our services and develop new features

Access and Control

You have the right to:

• Access all information stored by the game, not only yours but everyone's
• Access all source code of the backend, i.e. the software storing the data

Deletion

We currently don't have a way to delete old players and old games. The way to remove the link to your (anonymous) username is to delete your gaming client, which holds your public and private keys.

Data Retention

We retain anonymous information for as long as the platform is running. If someone clones the data, they will retain it for as long as they want. We don't claim ownership of the data.

Cookies and Tracking

We don't use cookies and similar tracking technologies.
